Miracles!

Hi family,

Okay there are not even words to express all that happened this last week. I am still in awe with all of the miracles we saw. If there is one word to describe this week it`s just that... miracles.

So let me see where i can start.... First off we had divisions with some hermanas this week, Hermana Flores and Hermana Herrera. So Hermana Herrera is a miny missionary, which means she isn't a missionary, she`s just one of the youth here that offered to spend 3 weeks as a missionary because Hermana Amador needed to go home. So she`s been with Hermana Flores the past 3 weeks and lets just say they have been having a really hard time, and have been really discouraged. And when a missionary is discouraged, they don't see success. So they basically didn't have anyone to teach and were just visiting members. So i went to their area with Hermana Flores and I knew the most important thing was to help her build up her faith. If you have faith you can do anything, especially with missionary work. I prayed a lot before to know how to help this sister and then when I got there we went crazy. I just tried really hard to put a smile on my face and talk to everyone. So we did just that and we were doing good, found a few people to teach but nothing great. I could tell she was feeling down at one point because we got rejected like 10 times in a row so I told her "Lets pray". We stopped right there in the street and said a pray, asking for direction in where there are people that want to listen to us. We opened our eyes and I asked her where we should go, she lead me to where she felt we should be and we found a house with some teenagers outside. So we went over and started talking to them. Long story short they invited us in to teach them and at the end they all accepted to prepared to be baptized. We left the lesson and I just looked over at Hermana Flores and she was beaming.. soooo happy :):) We talked for a long time about how this isn't our work, this is the Lord`s work, and if we ask with faith, he will guide as and help us to find those that are ready to accept the gospel. It was incredible. :)

Another miracle was on Friday. We went to go visit to ladies that we found last week. last week when we shared with them we had a really great lesson and one of them, Lucresia said that she was having a really bad week and then we turned it all around. So that was cool, and then we started to leave, they then told us to be super careful because people get robbed a lot, and just 2 weeks ago Lucresia was robbed... so we were kinda scared leaving the house. As we walked out we both just started praying for protection and that nothing would happen to us. While we were walking I turned to my companion and asked her if she believes that there really are angels guarding us and protecting us. She said Yes of course and we talked about that for a bit as we left this scary street. So ya that was last Friday, and i didn't really even think twice about it, but then this Friday we went back with them. Right when we got in the first thing they asked us was "Are you guys angels??" we both just laughed and then they explained. The other lady named Rosalba left with us, but she went with her husband in their car and we left walking. We went in the same direction and everything, we just had a bit of a head start but it`s a long straight road with trees on both sides. So Rosalba said that as she was driving up the street she started to look for us. Let me remind you we left seconds before her. She said she didn`t see us, they said she looked in front of her and behind her and we were no where to be found. As she explained this me and my companion just looked at each other with big eyes. The only explanation for this is that there really are guarding angels, which hid us, and made us invisible to all others. God protects His missionaries. The church is true. :)

Then on Saturday we went on visits with a member, Elza who has only been a member for 2 months but is amazing!! She comes with us every Saturday and is like a sister to us now. So it started raining and we were running in the rain to get her because our umbrellas broke.. haha she just looked at us and then walked into a store, buying us both brand new and way nice umbrellas. Wow. And then we went on visits. We visited a very special family, Lubi and Ramon with their 2 year old daughter Estrellita. They live in a tiny little room, share a bathroom with like 10 other people, and he hasn`t had work for 2 weeks, so you can say that they were kinda struggling. Lubi was sick and had a lot of pain so she told us she had taken iBuprofen and now her stomach hurt. I remembered how mom always said you had to eat with those so i asked her if she ate something with it. She looked at Ramon and said no. there was no denying that they had nothing to eat. And we as missionaries aren't allowed to give money or anything. but we gave the little girl our granola bars and then left. We passed a grocery store and Elza stopped and said we needed to stop and she went in and bought a ton of food, all for Lubi and Ramon.... I was holding back tears the whole time. So then us, as Santa`s helpers went to give them all the food. We only saw Ramon because Lubi was in the bathroom, but we just put it in there house smiled and left.

Yesterday they came to church. Lubi walked in, saw us and started to cry. She said that she`s never felt so much peace in her life, and you could tell was just soooooooooo grateful for everything we had done, but mostly for Elza, who was an angel for them. Also we had 7 others who came to church, 9 in total!!

I can honestly say that i still feel like crying with the gratitude I feel for my Heavenly Father and His love for all of his children. I know that this all of this that I am seeing isn`t because I am a super missionary, because I`m not. I know that it`s because I am being obedient, and praying with faith. This gospel is amazing, and brings more peace and happiness than any other thing!!

I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Love,
Hermana Peters

Sept. 21, 2015
Hi family,

I hope everyone is doing well, healthy and happy. Today i don't have a lot of time to write because we had a zone activity today and are just barely getting back.. and well Pday is now almost over.. so i sent pictures because every picture is a thousand words right? so that should cover it. haha but this week was super good!! We got to see a lot of fun things with Independence day, and also got to end the week with Ezequiel`s baptism. He`s AMAZING. i feel so blessed to have been part of the conversion of him. One day i will explain it all to you guys because it`s too much to try and write in an email. But ya we are super happy for him!

On Wednesday we had interviews with President and for a bit President was asking me once again if i was firm on my decision to go home early, but the said he just wanted to make sure, because it hurts to loose me. It was good to hear from him. He then went on for about 10 minutes about marriage... ya he`s more truncky than i am... hahaha :) but I really like everything he said to me. And know that it will really help me someday.

Also i went to Puriscal to do divisions and i was with Hermana Larsen!! Boo yaaa MTC comps :) But i really enjoyed my time with her. She`s done a lot of changing on the mission and i am sooo proud of her.

So ya sorry i don't have a lot of time to tell you all that i want... but i hope you all have a wonderful week and know that i love you and am praying for each and every one of you.

love, Hermana Peters

Leadership Counsel
September 14, 2015

Hello family,

First off i´m glad to hear that no one got lost up in the mountains for too long... I´ll be honest that i kinda laughed reading that it happened again.. but then after felt bad for  laughing because you all were worried and sounds like it was pretty intense... Haha but i am glad everyone is safe and sound now :)

My week was great! Pretty busy but that is always better! On Monday after i wrote you guys we had a bunch of errands we needed to do to prepare for a birthday party that we wanted to do for Axel, Allison and their younger sister Brittany, because all of their birthdays are within a week of each other, and  so we had a great big party for them all at the same time. Jenny was soo happy and almost in tears telling us thank you because she was really tight on money these past weeks, and didn't have money to buy her kids a cake. So we basically felt like Santa Clause bringing a whole bunch of little gifts and a big cake. This family is sooo important to me, and i feel so blessed to know them :)

This week we found soooo many amazing people! The Lord was really blessing us. We found a family that is amazing! Ana and Rodolfo are the parents and they have 2 daughters living with them at home, Tatiana and Mariaelena. They are a family super united and happy and that is something really hard to find here. Just seeing the family sitting on the couch together, the mom and dad holding hands, and the two daughters joking around together was amazing to me. I never realized how special i am to have been born into the family that i have. But ya this family basically are perfect Mormons, we just have to help them realize that too :) haha

We also found this cute old lady one day walking in the rain. Sometimes when it rains it´s really a blessing because the people with soft hearts let us right in.. hahaha and so this old widow, who is 89 years old,  She´s had a really hard life.. 3 of her kids have already died and she´s really alone. So we just let her talk (Ticas love to talk) and then at the end invited her to church, and guess what... She CAME!! And if was perfect because our Sunday School class was about how families can be together forever. Maybe i´ll be baptizing another old lady :) Also that same day we found 2 other old ladies, both being widows and we talked to them. I felt like President Monson because he always shares his stories about going and visiting the widows :) it was the best :)

Also you all remember Ezequiel right? well he´ll be getting baptized on Sunday!!! We are all soooo excited, especially him :)

We also had a Leadership Meeting this week so i got to see Hermana Fowler!! We are both so very happy that God has given us the same answer and that we can go home together in December :) Also the meeting was great! I learned a lot from President and his wife and i learned a ton!

Well i love you all soo much! Have a wonderful week and no one get lost okay??

:)

Hermana Peters

September 8, 2015

Hi family,

Sounds like you`re all enjoying your Labor day together! Eat lots for me okay :)

So this week was just plain crazy!! I will start with the best part and then go to the worst... First off on Wednesday we got to go to the temple!! BEST DAY EVER. I was praying a lot the be able to just feel peace about everything that has been going on lately and to be able to learn more about God`s plan for me. I learned so much, received so much personal revelation, and felt so strongly the spirit. Once again, like the other 2 times i went to the temple here on the mission, my favorite part was being able to sit in the celestial room and feel like i was sitting in our home. There is a quote that says the only place that can compare to the temple in holiness is the home. It`s so true!! NEVER take for granted a home like ours. :)

That night we got a call from the APs telling us that they were going to split our zone. ya WHAT?! it was so out of the blue, because it`s not even a transfer anytime soon. But we just go forward with faith. So now i am in the zone Escazu, and we are half the size we were before. The picture i sent was the whole zone the day before it got split. So now we are a lot smaller, but my work is still the same because we will be the STL of both the zones. I guess right now God`s plan for the zone is to divide and conquer!! :) Also with that they had emergency transfers for one of the sisters in my zone because she was in an area with a lot of hills, and her knees were getting really bad so they sent her to Guanacaste and guess who is here now? Hermana Larsen, my companion from the MTC! :) haha crazy right?

Then the next day i went off the Ciudad Colon to have divisions with Hermana Amador. We were able to have a great time together, but she seemed a little off, and wasn't working as hard as she usually was. I was a bit worried, but just figured she was tired. Then on Saturday night we get a phone call from her comp saying that they were on their way to the hospital.... She had had some kind of nervous attack, where her legs wouldn't stop shacking and her hands were all sweaty. On Sunday she was back in her house but wasnt doing any better. She went to church, and had another one during sacrament meeting.... The doctors say it`s from stress but we were super worried, everyone. So sunday after lunch we got on a bus to go see her. When we got there the nurse was already there, saying that she was not good.. and President was ready to sent her home. While we were there she received a blessing, and at the end almost everyone was crying. I am pretty sure we all felt that she needed to go home to take care of herself. It sooo hard to see someone leave, especially because she is just starting... but we just have to trust in the Lord. Something that i am learning more and more everyday. So keep her in your prayers...

Other than that my week was great! :) i love working with Hermana Garcia and with the investigators i have right now. i never want to leave. Ezequiel is doing super good!! He`ll be getting baptized on the 20th :) yesterday at church he pointed to the font and said "That`s were i`ll be the 20th!!  and his nephew is also listening to us and wants to get baptized!! We are sooo blessed her in Escazu :)

Well i love you all so much! Thank you so much for your prayers, love and support! you are the best family in the whole wide world!! :)

Have a great week!

Love,
Hermana Peters :)
A super foggy day here in Escazu :)
